Now, while it starts operations, today Cofepris held a working meeting with the Areas of Protection against Sanitary Risks (APRS) of Campeche, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Yucatan to establish and coordinate actions for the prevention of health risks on the route through which the Mayan Train will pass.
The coordinator of the Federal Sanitary System (SFS), Carlos Aguilar Acosta, and the heads of the APRS of southeastern Mexico, announced that the intervention in basic sanitation will benefit 41 municipalities with a population of more than three million people located in the five entities. In addition, Oaxaca and Veracruz will be added, where sanitation activities will also take place.
For this, the APRS will be linked with municipal authorities and strategic alliances will be created with other institutions for an effective approach with the communities, which will allow them to provide training, accompaniment, surveillance, monitoring and health promotion activities.
Health information for the child population
During the meeting, the Campeche state commission presented the project Guardian Childrenwhich is launched in some schools of the entity with the name in Mayan Kanan Paalalo’ob, where through workshops, five characters provide health and prevention information to girls and boys who are in the fourth and fifth year of primary school.
The didactic project seeks to create a culture of health risk prevention so that infants know the benefits of health promotion and the favorable impact on health. The proposal during the meeting was that Niños Guardianes be extended to the southeastern states of Mexico and finally run throughout the country.
Also addressed was the attention to migrant shelters, for which it was established to carry out links with those responsible for these spaces to provide training on the proper handling and preparation of food, prevention of some diseases; correct use of medicines and supplies for health and basic sanitation.
At the close of this first meeting, the Secretary of Health of Chiapas, José Manuel Cruz Castellanos, recognized that the priority project of the Mayan Train adds efforts and generates an exchange of experiences between the federal government and the state governments to benefit the population in terms of sanitation. essential.
