- Advertisers attribute false therapeutic properties to “Adaptoheal” products against cancer, respiratory infections, cirrhosis, kidney failure, diabetes, among others.
- With the slogan “If it cures everything, it does not cure anything” the population is alerted about deceptive products.
- In addition to being a crime, they are also products that put the health of those who consume them at risk.
In the irregular market, different deception products are offered that put the health and economy of the population at risk; For this reason, the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) warns about the “Adaptoheal” products of the company Adaptogen Sinergy SA de CV, since they do not have studies that guarantee their safety, efficacy and quality.
What is the accused brand?
This brand markets about 50 products, without any of them having been evaluated by this health authorityrepresenting a latent risk for those who consume them, since their formulation includes ingredients such as purple echinacea, milk thistle seed, black cranberry, astragalus, maitake, noni (morinda citrifolia) and reishi, which are found in excessive amounts as indicated in the third edition of the Herbal Pharmacopoeia of the United Mexican States (FHEUM).
Illegally and fraudulently, “Adaptoheal” products are advertised and promoted claiming therapeutic and rehabilitative properties for supposed cancer care; acute and chronic respiratory infections; liver complications such as cirrhosis; autoimmune diseases; renal insufficiency; diabetes; ophthalmological problems, among others.
The foregoing violates the provisions of the General Health Law, since the function of food supplements is to increase dietary intake. In addition, manufacturers refer to a false address on the product label in order to avoid verification visits.
All deception products could aggravate diseases and illnesses, by containing unauthorized components in their formulation; non-compliance with safety standards in its preparation, and incorrect storage.
Due to the above, Cofepris urges the population not to consume, give away and/or use this type of product, since this favors its proliferation, damages health and affects the economy of those who consume it. The motto that this health authority disseminates to the general public is recalled: “If it cures everything, it cures nothing”.
As they are products that do not comply with health legislation, they must not be marketed, distributed or advertised on websites or social networks; otherwise, this authority will impose administrative sanctions.
The points of sale within the Mexican territory where Adaptoheal brand products are offered can be reported on the Cofepris page, at the number 800 033 5050 or in person at the facilities of the Comprehensive Service Centers (CIS), present in each federal entity.
