As part of its activities, the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) published a list with some places that offer irregular cannabis. All part of a review in which establishments that do not comply with current legislation were identified.
In this case, all the denounced places correspond to the paradise chain in Mexico City. While the strategy has the objective of avoiding the commercialization of prohibited products with misleading labeling and marketing and/or that do not comply with health regulations.
The actions carried out by the Sanitary Operation Commission (COS) of Cofepris are intended to prevent this type of product from endangering the health of buyers and the population.

Likewise, this health authority carries out surveillance and legal actions against companies that received authorizations for the commercialization of products derived from cannabis and marijuana in the last days of the previous federal administration.
Why does Cofepris say that it is irregular cannabis?
In order to protect people’s health, they made sure 1,811 pieces of products containing CBD, hemp seedsas well as cannabis extracts and other substances, of which there is no evidence of safety, quality or manufacturing origin.
It is reported that Paradise is a company created in Nuevo León for the commercialization of products derived from marijuana, both for electronic commerce and for sale to the public. It has stores in 25 states of the Republic and the marketing of its products is outside the health regulations.
Article 234 of the General law of health classifies sativa, indica and American cannabis or marijuana as a narcotic, as well as its resin, preparations and seeds. For its part, article 245 states that synthetic cannabinoids are classified as psychotropic substances.
For his part, he Regulation of Sanitary Control of Products and Services points out that food supplements should not contain in their ingredients plants that are not allowed for infusions or teas, including sativa, indica and American cannabis.
Likewise, it establishes that on the label and in the information with which food supplements are marketed, information should not be presented in which preventive, rehabilitative or therapeutic indications are displayed. In addition to the fact that narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances should not be used in the production of perfumery and beauty products.
Based on the above, 165 samples of labels of different products were taken due to presenting various irregularities in the information. Among them, some that have a code attributed to Cofepris pretending to be a health registry.
In addition, activities were suspended at a Paradise branch located in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office for not having an operating notice that authorizes the operations of that location as a commercial establishment.
