The field of health is one of the most regulated in our country. It is not for less because the security and integrity of the population is at risk. That is why it is necessary to abide by all current legal provisions to avoid falling into sanctions or crimes. Especially due to the constant denunciation of irregular aesthetic clinics Throughout the national territory. Furthermore, it is a bad action affects the reputation of the entire guild.
All of this leads to a recent operation spearheaded by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris). The objective is to intensify regulatory actions to identify these types of establishments and suspend or close them to avoid risks to people’s health.
Fight against irregular aesthetic clinics
These places, which offer services such as Cosmetic surgeriesoperate clandestinely, without a health license, without certified hygiene measures, with personnel without academic accreditation, inadequate infrastructure and in risky conditions

As part of the actions to protect patients, verification visits to clinics were increased. In addition, measures have been applied in irregular establishments where surgical and obstetric procedures were performed that represented a health risk.
As a result of these operations, 11 irregular aesthetic clinics were identified. One of them was “Sanitario Montevideo”, located in Montevideo no. 452, Colonia Lindavista, in Mexico City. It was sanctioned with TOTAL and DEFINITIVE CLOSURE.
For their part, another 10 establishments were suspended due to irregularities in the ruling process.
Among the risks detected are not having health licenses for operating rooms, intra-hospital pharmacy operations or for the transfusion service. In addition to the detection of expired or reused supplies, damaged structures, a history of violating security measures imposed by Cofepris. Also for offering specialized medical services without having the corresponding academic training.

For now, Cofepris maintains coordinated actions with state health authorities and other public institutions to prevent illegal establishments from continuing to operate and represent a health risk. It also reminds any patient of the importance of verifying that the establishments they go to for medical attention are formally constituted and that they have a health license.
On the other hand, the work of Cofepris also consists of the review and authorization of all types of medicines. The list is too broad and includes vaccines against Covid-19. So far there are 10 that have been approved for emergency use but it is not ruled out that others can be integrated during the coming months.
