The Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) and Google LLC sign a collaboration agreement to formalize a communication protocol that allows the federal agency to report content generated by third parties that violates health regulations and thus be able to take the corresponding actions.
The agreement was signed by the federal commissioner, Alejandro Svarch Pérez, and by Google’s business director, Philipp Schindler.
Cofepris is now part of YouTube Health
Likewise, it is announced that the platform YouTube Health adds Cofepris as an ally, being one of the official and specialized sources in health matters to combat misinformation through truthful and timely content. The objective is to promote specialized topics that are a reference to guide users and thus create a culture of consulting reliable information on health issues.
YouTube Health arrives in Mexico: Requirements to verify health channels
One of the main objectives of this platform is to bring reliable health protection issues closer to the population. For that reason the Cofepris team of specialists has carried out various actions, including developing and delivering the first training titled “Best practices for creating safe health content.”
This training was given by the director of operations of Cofepris, Alexandro Molina Gasman, and the head of Social Communication, Isaac Macip Martínez. The action was aimed at content generators and collaborators of YouTube Health, who were told about the powers of this health authority and the main dissemination campaigns, which aim to inform the population about health risks.
Within the framework of this collaboration, Cofepris broadcast, from the Google Mexico facilities, the 100th session of the Educapris program, which provides training to the regulated sector so that they know the institution, its procedures and regulatory improvement strategies.
The 100th episode featured the participation of the federal commissioner, Alejandro Svarch Pérez; the commissioner of Health Promotion, Pablo Quiroga Adame; the director of Social Communication, Isaac Macip Martínez, and the deputy director of Social Research, Verónica Suárez Rienda.

In addition, the PAHO representative in Mexico, Juan Manuel Sotelo, participated; the Responsibility leader of YouTube Latin America, Daniela Guerra Elizondo; the senior manager of Government Affairs and Public Policies of Google Mexico, Hugo Martínez McNaught, and the manager of Strategic Partners of YouTube Health in Latin America, Isaac Ochoa León.
