Since then, LIMBO has remained in the hearts and minds of many of its players, but now longtime LIMBO fans will have something new to look forward to.
Although Playdead, the studio behind LIMBO and Insidehas had a very intermittent release schedule, with Inside releasing six years after LIMBO, both games have garnered huge success and attention.
In the years since Inside was released, there has been little news about Playdead’s next project. But today a new game has been announced made by the main designer of the gameplay of LIMBO and Inside.
During the Xbox and Bethesda Games presentation, a new game developed by Jeppe Carlsen, Lead Designer on LIMBO and Inside, was announced via gameplay trailer. Called cocoonthe trailer is less than two minutes long and details quite a bit of content in terms of setting, gameplay, and level design.
Based on what you see in this trailer, what stands out most about cocoon it’s how different it is from previous games Carlsen has developed. Compared to LIMBO and Inside, Cocoon’s tone seems much brighter and more cheerful.
Not to mention the various changes to the game’s design, such as the move from a 2D side-scrolling perspective to a top-down one. In addition, the gameplay also includes seemingly more complex puzzles for the player to solve.
It has also been confirmed that cocoon It will be published by Annapurna Interactive, which in recent years has become a comprehensive publisher for indie games as a whole. Annapurna Interactive has allowed independent studios a means to release games on multiple platforms.
In the case of Cocoon, despite being announced at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, the game will be available on Nintendo Switch and Steam alongside Xbox platforms.
Cocoon will arrive in 2023 on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
