As of November 13, Coca-Cola increased the prices of its products in Mexico, except in Acapulco, in solidarity with the population affected by Hurricane Otis.
The average increase in drinks under the umbrella of this brand will be one peso, although in some products it will be up to seven pesos.
Coca-Cola products had not increased since last year, but from now on they will undergo updates that will have an impact on Mexican consumers, as they are among those who drink the most soft drinks in the world.
According to data from Yale University, Mexico is the largest consumer of soft drinks worldwide, with an average of 163 liters per person per year. The organization El Poder del Consumidor points out that Coca-Cola products represent more than 70% of national consumption of bottled sugary drinks.
According to the National Alliance of Small Merchants (ANPEC), it listed the factors that led to these increases:
- The products have gone a year without increases
- Inflationary: Inflation in basic products remains above 9%
- Seasonal: Weather events led to poor harvests of agricultural products, such as sugar.
