A few hours ago there was a rumor that Amazon was going to buy Electronic Arts and supposedly make an offer today, but the rumor has already been denied by the CNBC team. It should be clarified that CNBC can confirm that the deal between EA and Amazon is not happening because they themselves tried to buy Electronic Artsbut they did not reach an agreement.
After a rumor circulated that Amazon was going to make an offer to buy Electronic Arts, David Faber appeared on CNBC to debunk the rumors. Who confirmed to Faber that the rumors are false are people who would have been involved in the agreement, since they got involved when NBCUniversalwho owns CNBC, tried to buy EA.

David Faber said he reviewed the report that EA was going to be acquired by Amazon, as he always pays attention to acquisition stories, but says that after talking to people who would actually know if a deal is going on, he can confirm that no, Amazon isn’t buying Electronic Arts, at least not anytime soon.
These are people who would have been involved, who were actually involved when our parent company (CNBC) was talking to Electronic Arts. That was real.”
David Faber has the Electronic Arts contact who was able to deny the rumor thanks to the fact that in the past NBCUniversal tried to reach an agreement with EA, but unfortunately for them the negotiations did not advance as they wished. Apparently, CNBC had the idea for EA to be a spin-off of the network with EA executives running both companies, but the deal ultimately fell apart.
Faber also said that Electronic Arts has definitely been out there considering its options and Amazon may have an interest in it, but in regards to the report that surfaced today he can confirm that the information is false. “Unless the people who were involved previously have no idea.”
