Claudia Sheinbaum presented her crime report in CDMX and highlighted that the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office was one of the most insecure.
The Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office is in charge of Sandra Cuevas, placed as a representative of the PRD.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) also highlighted the crime rate during the past two six-year terms.
Today, during the press conference “La Mañanera”, the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum presented the CDMX crime index at the end of 2022, which left the mayors cuauhtémocGustavo A. Madero, Venustiano Carranza and Iztapalapa as some of the most insecure in the city.
The index covered a spectrum of three years, from 2019 to 2022, with which, it returned the results registered during his tenure. The Head of Government and candidate for the presidency in 2024, assured that during this three-year period there has been a drop in high impact crime of 46.5 percent. Likewise, he assured that at the beginning of his six-year term, 160.2 crimes occurred a day, while now only 64.5 occur.
With this, he presented the results by municipality, where the one that appeared on the scale was Cuauhtémoc. Precisely, this area is led by Sandra Cuevaswho has openly declared herself a critic of the Government of Claudia Sheinbaum.
Claudia Sheinbaum says that Cuauhtémoc is the most insecure mayor’s office
In the crime index by mayors, for every 100,000 inhabitants, the most insecure of all turned out to be Cuauhtémoc with 164.05; followed by Venustiano Carranza with 118.15; then the Miguel Hidalgo with 107.85; Benito Juárez registering 101.35; and Iztacalco with 100.69. On the contrary, the safest of all turned out to be the Cuajimalpa mayor’s office, with an index just above 37.
“These are the results per mayor but per 100,000 inhabitants. If we consider the number of high-impact crimes per 100,000 inhabitants for the 16 municipalities,” said the Head of Government. “Normally Iztapalapa appears in the first place, but already for 100,000 inhabitants, like Gustavo A. Madero it has a different percentage.”
In the same way, he assured that during the period of 2017 and 2019 the rate of intentional homicide increased to a great extent, however, now registering, according to numbers from the Ministry of National Defense, a reduction of 44 percent.
Sandra Cuevas vs. Claudia Sheinbaum
The exhibition of the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office could have a lot to do with the relationship between Sandra Cuevas and Claudia Sheinbaum. Let us remember that at the beginning of August, when the mayoress hung a banner advertisement in Tlatelolco, it was criticized by the media and forced to withdraw it, to which she pointed out the campaign “#EsClaudia” had been doing the same thing for months.
In the same way, when the accident occurred on line 3 of the subway at La Raza and 18 de Marzo, the mayoress appeared at the scene to point out that, while the subway had required maintenance, the Head of Government “was campaigning early” in Morelos.
