With the remake of The Raven (The Crow) at the door, we did not want to miss the opportunity to remember the soundtrack of the 1994 film. A soundtrack full of rock, with great groups such as The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, Rage Against the Machine, Violent Femmes , The Jesus and Mary Chain, among others.

Among the most notable songs of The Crow we can find:
“Burn” – The Cure
It was thought that the song “Hanging Garden” that appears in the comic would be the one chosen, but Robert Smith liked it so much The Crow who decided to write a song especially for the film. A song that the vocalist and drummer (Boris Williams) of The Cure recorded in just two days.
“Big Empty” – Stone Temple Pilots
Stone Temple Pilots initially planned to use the song “Only Dying”, however, after the death of Brandon Lee, it did not seem appropriate to include it in the soundtrack. For this reason it was “Big Empty”, the one chosen for the feature film.
“Dead Souls” (Joy Division cover) – Nine Inch Nails
Like The Cure, another of James O'Barr's great influences was Joy Division, so using a song from the group led by Ian Curtis made perfect sense. At that time New Order was asked to perform a cover of “Love Will Tear Us Appart”, however, given the refusal of those from Manchester, the producers decided on Trent Reznor's set. For that occasion Nine Inch Nails performed the cover of “Dead Souls” which is a production of the compilation album Still (1981) by Joy Division.
«Darkness» (re-recording of “Darkness of Greed”) – Rage Against the Machine
Before being re-recorded for the film's soundtrack, “Darkness“was known as”Darkness of Greed” and is part of the demo album (1991) by the Los Angeles band. On this album there are also other hits such as “Know Your Enemy“, “Freedom“, “Bullet in the Head“, “Killing in the Name”, which would later appear on the first studio LP Rage Against the Machine (1992). “Darkness of Greed” is also part of the CD of the single “Killing in the Name”.
“Color Me Once” – Violent Femmes
A track that was written prior to participating in The Crow, but that both Violent Femmes and the production considered suitable for the film. For its part, Violent Femmes decided to include a preliminary version of “Color Me Once” in it Why Do Birds Sing? –Deluxe Edition (2021) to commemorate 30 years of this production.
“The Badge“ (cover of Poison Idea) – Pantera
Pantera chose to cover “The Badge” by the Hardcore group Poison Idea. A song that originally appears in the Feel the Darkness (1990) from the group originating from Portland, Oregon. For its part, Pantera included the song as a bonus track on the Far Beyond Driven (1994).
“Snakedriver” – The Jesus and Mary Chain
Besides of soundtrack of The Crow“snakedriver“, is one of the productions on the compilation album The Sound of Speed (1993).
The film also has the score by Graeme Revell who, in addition to the musicalization, was responsible for co-writing “It Can't Rain All the Time” performed (and written) by Jane Siberry.
