Carlos Slim’s CICSA manages to reach an economic agreement with the families of those affected on line 12.
80 percent of those affected have signed the financial compensation agreement.
Ernestina Godoy, head of the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office suggested that those affected sign the agreement.
Nine months after the collapse of one of the structures on Line 12 that killed 26 people and left more than 80 injured, the company Carso Infraestructura y Construcción (CICSA Group of Carlos Slim), has reached a reparation agreement with 80 percent of those affected.
This was reported today, Wednesday, February 2, by Ernestina Godoy, head of the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FJCDMX), however the amount that was offered was not revealed.
What does Carlos Slim’s CICSA agreement with those affected by Line 12 consist of?
Despite not wanting to mention the amount, it is known thanks to some documents that these amounts could vary depending on the seriousness of the cases. For this reason, some sources that have been able to have access to the document have declared that the figures would be between 400 thousand pesos and 6 million pesos for each affected person.
The document mentions the following:
“The parties acknowledge that the consequence of the approval and compliance with this reparation agreement will be the extinction of the criminal action in favor of CICSA, its affiliates, shareholders, directors, attorneys-in-fact and employees, regarding any affectation, consequence or damage suffered by the victim, directly or indirectly, due to the event.
Supposedly, the agreement of seven clauses would be contemplating “the moral and physical damage, as well as the psychological, legal attention and the psychological, therapeutic and thanatological treatments”. In addition, it adds what is known as “loss of earnings”, which refers to the income that the affected victim did not receive as a result of the collapse of Line 12 of the metro.
However, as far as the agreement is concerned, this could mean that CICSA clarified that offering this repair is not synonymous with acknowledging responsibility for the collapse. These were their exact words, since they considered that their participation in the monetary agreement “does not imply, nor should it be interpreted, considered or held, as an acknowledgment of any responsibility.”
At the moment, 80 percent of those affected have reached an agreement with the company, however the other 20 percent have refused to sign the agreement.
For her part, the prosecutor Ernestina Godoy made an appeal to the victims of the collapse of the car on May 3, who still They have not decided to sign the reparation agreement to approach the capital prosecutor’s office and thus “mediate the possibility of reaching all the agreements.”
