Right now it seems that in the keyboard category there are only two apps that take with them all the news and developments, such as SwiftKey and the Google Keyboard. Two keyboards that have managed to bring together millions of users who use them daily to be able to write faster or have that custom theme that goes hand in hand with their desktop or that custom ROM that they have installed from scratch on their terminal. There are another series of alternatives to these two keyboards but that little by little they are losing steam before two rivals who are making things very difficult. What we will always be happy about will be new keyboards that arrive with clear objectives, as with Chrooma Keyboard.
Chrooma Keyboard takes a lot of inspiration from Google’s own Keyboard but let’s say it improves on it in certain respects. Those aspects that we would like Google itself to implement on its own, plus some quite striking feature that differentiates it from this one. In the color there is one of those aspects such as the keyboard changing color depending on whether we are in one app and another, so the interface as a whole will take on a great harmony and that Material Design of the app will look better. What you do have to take into account that here you will not have side menus or custom themes or everything that characterizes SwiftKey.
Those details
Apart from that characteristic of taking the general color of the app in which we use this interesting keyboard, it has some details that improve the user experience that one gets from Google Keyboard. A row of numbers can be added and the keyboard size can be reduced to find the ideal dimensions for our way of typing.
Returning to the color issue, let’s say that Chrooma has this function as a smart. In Hangouts we will have the keyboard in its green color, but in Gmail, we will go directly to red and so on with each of those apps. So this is a chameleon keyboard that adapts perfectly to the apps that you use the most on a daily basis and in which you need to type messages such as saving a note.
Various options
The smart color system theme can be deactivated or choose a specific color so that the app is not adapting to each of those apps that we launch. It also has those more normal Google keyboard schemes with dark and light theme.
Another of its curious contributions is in the night mode. In this mode, Chrooma recognizes the low lighting of the room where we are and then adjusts the color of the keyboard to shade it so that you do not go blind as can happen at certain times. Another advantage and that we can take heart when we talk about this new keyboard is in the style of the color palette that adapts to the rows of keys. A gradient can be applied to differentiate it if we do not want those flatter and more identifying colors of Material Design.
By the way, those gradients go in unison on the next evolution of Material Design for the next few months as we have been able to know from Duarte himself, Google’s Android design chief.
Apart from all these particularities, Chroome Keyboard allows you to use swipes to write, it has basic word prediction, emojis of all colors and translation into multiple languages, among which we find Spanish. It is a new keyboard that comes with things very clear and is to expand what the Google Keyboard is to be able to customize what we think Google could have improved.
It is not found for free from the Play Store but for € 1.49 you will have it all to yourself, what are you waiting for?
