Christmas is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated and endearing times for people around the world; a time when, apparently, good wishes reign, as well as being one of the most important periods for shopping.
According to Kantar Worldpanel and his study “What will Christmas be like for Mexicans?”an estimated 68 percent of Mexicans assured that, this Christmas, they will give away clothes or shoes, while 52 percent announced that their income would go to the purchase of toys.
On the other hand, the macro survey Global Consumer Survey Special: Christmas and Holiday Season reveals that clothing, textile products and footwear are the gifts that Mexicans most expect to receive this season.
Be that as it may, much of the so-called “Christmas brightness” is due to the festive atmosphere that, since December 12 (Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe) takes place in a large part of Mexican society. Given this, parties such as posadas, meetings with family and/or friends, business dinners, etc., are part of the habits of Mexicans and are also times when gifts are usually exchanged.
Just taking these data into account, it becomes clear that, among other things, Christmas is the time when consumers spend more than necessary, a situation that, consequently, opens the way for the much feared January slope.
Christmas Swap Gets “Creative”; They give away… goats and chickens?
TikTok, once again, has once again become the space where Internet users decide to make a little of their daily routine known, as has happened for a few years and, above all, since the arrival of the pandemic, a moment that It helped the Chinese platform to exceed one billion users worldwide and, as if that were not enough, to position itself in the taste and preference of Generation Z and, now, of the so-called “alpha”.
To give an example, the short video social network is the platform where we can find out about the peculiar case of a “creative” Christmas exchange between a group of friends, which has been “decorated” by the types of gifts that were delivered between yes, that is, farm animals, such as goats and chickens.
As it was expected, The video has already gone viral, racking up more than 21 million views and a cumulative 2.9 million likes.and it is that we remember that, in an era in which social networks play a transcendent role in people’s habits, views, likes and reproductions dictate what is popular / viral.

In short, Christmas 2022 will still be framed by the presence of Covid-19 and, incidentally, by the context of inflation that arose mainly from the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In the middle of this frame, an Ipsos survey reveals that half of consumers anticipate that the increase in prices will have a very significant impact on their Christmas purchases.
