After his successful stint in the MCU as Thor, Chris Hemsworth seeks to break through with other types of projects that allow him to show his acting range. One of them is furiousprequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, which will tell us the origins of the character originally played by Charlize Theron. Although the MCU brought him international fame, Chris Hemsworth feels a greater connection to furious, so much so that he considers that filming as “the best experience” of his career. Why did you come to that conclusion?
In interview for G.Q., the Australian spoke about the complicated physical and mental work involved in a film like this. Considering that road rage featured brilliant action scenes with no help from CGI, hopefully director George Miller wants to repeat the feat. At the end of the day, Hemsworth already has experience with several action movies.
“I came to that movie exhausted. I thought, ‘How am I going to get through this?’ Week one of rehearsals with Miller, and all of a sudden there was this reigniting of my creative energy. The production of Furiosa was by far the best experience of my career, and something I am very proud of. It made me think that it’s not the work that’s exhausting, but what kind of work it is, and how much I get involved in it and if it’s challenging in the right way.”
In furiousHemsworth’s character will be named Dementus. And although it is still not entirely clear what relationship she will have with Anya Taylor-Joy, the coexistence between the two actors was on good terms. Taking into account that the previous film of Mad Max suffered from the confrontations between Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, it is good to know that the new story had a more relaxed production.
“George Miller is masterful. I’m on the hunt for more George Millers. Or more of George Miller, if he accepts me,” Hemsworth added.
Fortunately, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker has nothing but praise for his leading lady. In addition to mentioning his attributes for working on brutal action sequences and complicated locations, he also delved into what Hemsworth brought to the entire production team. Apparently, not only the actor had the best experience. Would Miller work with him again as the actor wishes?
“Of course! It would be exciting. He was always prepared, no matter how difficult the scene, always working very hard. There are no distractions, he is very focused. He will do whatever it takes to make the movie the best it can be. He will work with other actors, even in smaller roles, and bond with them. If there’s a problem, and productions can sometimes be tense, he’s the one who can calm things down.”
furiousstarring Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson, is set to hit theaters in May 2024. Will it achieve the critical success of its predecessor?
Juan Jose Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the theater up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movie.
