The Chip Ganassi Racing team to compete with two Cadillac DPi-VR prototypes in the IMSA queen class in 2022, thus unfolding the project that the training has maintained this year. As rumors pointed out, the structure has also added three very high-level riders to its program after the signings of Sébastien Bourdais, Alex Lynn and Earl Bamber. The incorporation of these three pilots and the use of two DPi prototypes are a clear example of the reinforcement and consolidation of a project that will serve as a preview of the Cadillac LMDh program which will be launched from 2023.
With the departure of Kevin Magnussen of the team due to his status as official Peugeot driver in the brand’s LMH project in the WEC, the formation has known how to move in the transfer market to gain the services of three top-level pilots who will join forces with Renger Van der Zande. Waiting to know what will happen to Scott dixon after competing with the team at Daytona or Sebring and the identity of the other driver who can act as a ‘wild card’ in the long-term events, Chip Ganassi has secured two pairs of highly pedigree pilots.
With his signing by Chip Ganassi, Frenchman Sébastien Bourdais gives priority to this endurance program over his IndyCar project, making use of his experience at the controls of the Cadillac DPi-VR from JDC-Mustang Sampling Racing this season. For its part, Alex Lynn lands at IMSA after racing the Cadillac DPi at the 2017 12 Hours of Sebring as the only previous experience. For its part, Earl Bamber will have his first experience with the Cadillac prototypeAlthough his endurance background is simply impressive, as evidenced by his victory in the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans in one of the Porsche LMP1s.
