In 2021, TikTok generated 656 million downloads worldwide.
TikTok reached a total user spend of 824 million dollars in Google Play and App Store.
The platform has one hundred million users in the United States.
Social networks have increased their followers and popularity with people all over the world. Given this, there have been many criticisms against these platforms, one of those is from well-known comedian Joe Rogan who shocked everyone after warning Americans that using TikTok increases the risk of their data ending up in the hands of China.
According to a report by Apptopiain 2021, TikTok was the most downloaded mobile app worldwide, generating 656 million downloads during the year under review.
Likewise, according to data from Mobile Marketing Reads, during the fourth quarter of 2021, TikTok reached a total user spending of 824 million US dollars on Google Play and App Store. In the last quarter, the ByteDance app generated approximately 55 percent more in consumer spending compared to the previous quarter.
Joe Rogan on TikTok
Once again the comedian Joe Rogan gave something to talk about after this time warning Americans about the use of TikTok and how the risk of your data ending up in the hands of China increases.
The comedian and host of the popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” on Spotify delved into TikTok’s terms of service in the most recent episode of his show. The platform has one hundred million users in the United States.
“I read the TikTok terms of service, yesterday I went down a TikTok rabbit hole… This is crazy,” Rogan said last Tuesday on his podcast.
“It said: ‘We collect certain information about the device you use to access the platform, such as your IP address, user region.’ This is really crazy,” she added.
Likewise, Rogan listed the other data collected by the popular platform.
“’User agent, mobile operator, time zone settings, identifiers for advertising purposes, model of your device, the device system, network type, device ID, screen resolution and operating system, names and types of apps and files,’” he said.
“So all of your apps and all of your file names, all of the things that you’ve archived on your phone, they have access to that,” added the famous comedian who has an Instagram account with more than 15 million followers.
In that same order, Rogan said that TikTok can collect information about “battery status, audio settings and connected audio devices, where you sign in from multiple devices.”
“Which means they can use other computers that you’re not even using to log into TikTok. They can suck the data out of that. That is what you agree to when you download and start using TikTok,” he said.
It is not the first accusation against the Chinese platform of collecting data from its users, especially from the Americans, since on Wednesday, the technology news site Gizmodo reported that the documents Leaked TikTok internals showed the extent to which the app sought to “minimize association with China.”
The documents, labeled “TikTok Master Messaging” Y “TikTok Key Messages“, they detail the public relations strategy of the social media giant during a period of increasing scrutiny from regulators and lawmakers over its parent company ByteDance and its ties to the Chinese Community Party.
In this sense, the fight against the protection of privacy and the data that social networks can collect continues throughout the world, where governments such as the European Union have imposed sanctions on platforms that do not comply with that point. .
