ChatGPTthe OpenAI chatbot, has recently been used to compose a guitar solo and the result has been phenomenal. An artificial intelligence (AI) guitarist.
Account hypertextual that Ava Toton, a 13-year-old guitarist, asked ChatGPT to write a guitar solo without further context, and the chatbot went to work. However, the AI made several mistakes before delivering the final result, prompting Toton to add his own creativity and musical skill into the performance.
Toton commented that ChatGPT gave her some off-key notes, so she added her own interpretation to make the result optimal. Despite this, ChatGPT has achieved an impressive achievement in creating musicbut it has also become evident that the credit for the final result does not rest solely with the AI.
“Write me a solo guitar”
Interesting use of ChatGPT. Can it create music? Not really judging from the amount of work it took to get to this clip in the end. With the effort involved I suspect any experienced musician could do it faster. https://t.co/5Or59w0gpx pic.twitter.com/xhK52EFYi9— Theo (@tprstly) May 4, 2023
It is not the first AI to generate music
ChatGPT isn’t the first AI to generate music and people are already using other AIs to create it and even using the voices of artists to sing songs by others with quite convincing results.
Instead, it could be considered that ChatGPT could become the star tool for Hollywood scripts, since the possibility of using this type of artificial intelligence as an emergency measure to reduce the impact of strikes has been raised.
Despite all of ChatGPT’s capabilities and its success in creating music, it’s clear that this technology needs regulation. Several countries of the European Union (EU), including Spain, are already asking questions about the technology behind ChatGPT, as well as its way of managing data. Asia has also set its sights on this tool and its regulation on this continent is expected to be discussed soon.
