The development of Artificial Intelligence seems unstoppable, and is reaching new levels every day. A recent example is ChatGPT: OpenAI program designed its own robot, together with European researchers.
Should we worry? Do the alarms go off? For now, it’s just one more step forward. a sample of how AI continues to develop.
Researchers from the Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) and the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (Switzerland) published the results of their research in the journal Nature Machine Intelligence.
“We wanted ChatGPT to design not just a robot, but one that would be really useful,” says Cosimo Della Santina of TU Delft. they focused in the collection of food, specifically tomatoes.
The scientists followed all the design decisions of ChatGPT, and the result was tremendous, especially in the conceptual phase.

“ChatGPT expands the knowledge of the designer to other areas of specialization”, highlighted Francesco Stella, another of the researchers. “For example, the chatbot taught us which crop would be more economically valuable to automate.”
Artificial Intelligence also made useful suggestions in the implementation phase, such as the use of a silicone clamp to avoid crushing the tomatoes or that of a Dynamixel motor to give it life.
“Our role as engineers shifted toward performing more technical tasks.” Stella acknowledged.
Despite the great work, there were also problems with misinformation, Della Santina pointed out. “AI bots are designed to generate the ‘most likely’ answer to a question, so there is a risk of misinformation and bias in the field of robotics.”
ChatGPT, Artificial Intelligence program created by OpenAI, it is a chatbot that emits answers and gives solutions to unknowns as if it were another human being. The most popular AI among all, it continues to advance its development.
Until where will it arrive?
