It is no secret to anyone that the mobile world grew exponentially. Consumers found in various apps the solution to an environment in which confinement and coexistence within homes became especially difficult.
This resulted in the growth of a millionaire business that reached a new record. In this sense, since Sensor Tower, global spending on mobile applications reached 64.9 billion dollars during the first half of 2021. This translates into a new record for revenue from apps on Google Play and App Store.
This figure is 24.8 percent higher than that registered in the same period last year, which was $ 52 billion.

Unsurprisingly, this affair produced two big winners, with Apple appearing to get the better of it.
On a specific basis, it is estimated that spending on the brand’s App Store was roughly 1.8 times larger than the revenue generated by Google Play, which made $ 23.4 billion in the same period.
However, the truth is that Google Play experienced higher year-on-year growth than the App Store. During the first half of 2021, Apple’s app store grew 22.1 percent, a number below the 29.3 percent experienced during the same period but last year.
On the other side of the coin, Google’s app store posted 30 percent year-on-year growth, a significant increase over the 26.8 percent recorded last year.
These figures are a record, but it is fair to acknowledge that, as indicated by Sensor Tower, “although spending continues to climb to new heights, the year-on-year growth experienced by mobile markets so far this year was lower than in 2020 ”.
In a timely manner, it is estimated that during the first half of last year, the COVID-19 pandemic boosted consumer spending by 28.4 percent year-on-year.
