Sebastián Montoya and Sébastien Ogier were the first riders selected to be present in the ‘rookie test’ of the WEC in Bahrain, even if the presence of the French has not been officially confirmed. However, it is not mandatory to be called ‘Seb’ to have a place in this test session. In fact, Charles Milesi and Laurents Hörr have been chosen by the WEC organizing committee as ‘rookie’ drivers, so they will have the opportunity to play this ‘rookie test’. Frenchman Milesi will get on one of the Toyota GR010 Hybrid in the hypercar category, while Laurents Hörr will pilot the winning GTE of the LMGTE-Pro class.
Charles Milesi competes with the Oreca # 31 of Team WRT alongside Robin Frijns and Ferdinand Von Hasburg, being one of the great architects of the good season of the team in his debut in the LMP2 category. The Frenchman will have at least 30 laps with the WEC-winning prototype: «I am very happy with this opportunity to be able to drive a hypercar, especially since it will be the prototype that won Le Mans this year. Is incredible. I would like to thank everyoneStarting with the WRT team because we have had an incredible year. TAlso to ACO, WEC and Toyota for this opportunity».
German Laurents Hörr has been confirmed to test this year’s Pro category-winning GTE, either the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo or the Porsche 911 RSR. The 24-year-old won the Michelin Le Mans Cup (LMP3) in both 2019 and 2020, while this year Hörr raced with DKR Engineering in the ELMS: «I am very happy and grateful to have been chosen for this year’s rookie test.. It means a lot to me to know that people see my performance as a driver. I am very excited to face this challenge as I have never worked with a factory team before.
