In any field there are always regulations and legal requirements that must be met. Health is no exception and the highest authority in this regard is the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris). His work is not only limited to the verification and approval of any drug but goes further. He is also in charge of reviewing all patient care spaces. In fact, it has a document in which it indicates the characteristics that a medical office must have.
What does the current legislation say?
In this case we refer to Mexican Official Standard NOM-005-SSA3-2018. It was in 2020 when the updated version was presented that remains in force to this day.
The objective of the document is to standardize the elements that a patient care space must have so that everyone can offer a quality service. It does not matter if it belongs to public or private health because absolutely everyone must comply with everything that is stipulated.
Therefore, it is very important that you know the characteristics of a medical office according to current legislation. Similarly, check if your workspace complies with everything that is mentioned. If this is not the case, it is dangerous because you can earn yourself the payment of a fine or even the closure of your workspace.
The NOM mentions everything from the minimum equipment you must have to the necessary medicines and healing material. In addition, it is not only about the legal part, but everything is aimed at the benefit of patients. All aspects were designed to offer the best for them.
