Over the past year, the Frogwares team has announced that there is a new installment in the Sherlock Holmes franchise, called Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One, coming to Xbox Series X|S last November, and that it was scheduled to release come to Xbox One later.
However, through a statement (via purexbox) the studio has confirmed that the Xbox One version of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One has been delayed indefinitely, despite a great deal of time and money being spent on it, but the team’s current situation makes it impossible for them to finish the work of that version.
Xbox One version of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One postponed indefinitely
In the statement, the studio confirmed that the decision to delay Xbox One version of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One It has come about as a direct consequence of the outbreak of the war between Ukraine and Russia, which has strongly affected the resources and manpower of the studio. However, it has also been confirmed that the PS4 version will hit the market in the coming days.
A lot of invisible work was done, but also as visible as changes to the city map in the PS4 and Xbox One versions so that the game could run more smoothly (we cut certain alleys, shortcuts, etc.). And as we got closer and closer to the completion of those versions, the war happened.
To say that the war impacted us is probably the understatement of the decade. Keeping our personal and mental situation out of it, the war hit us hard from a production point of view. From where we are now, with the resources and manpower that we have, we can release the PS4 version of Chapter One on April 28. However, we have to postpone the Xbox One version.
Therefore, it seems that the console version of the last generation of Microsoft seems that it needed some extra adjustments that could not be made, and that the studio cannot deal with at the moment. We can only hope that the situation of the study improves so that we can see Sherlock Holmes Chapter One on Xbox One.
