With each new firmware update From our console we rub our hands with the possibilities offered by the new tools. Today is the turn of PS5 and PS4the two Sony consoles that already have several functions that have passed the beta phase and are implemented in the system.
For example, now we can create or join both open and closed groups on both platforms, as well as on the PS App for mobile devices. In the case of PS5, the Game Base interface has been improved, which is now divided into three tabs: Friends, Groups and Messages. The trophies have also undergone changes in their visual presentation, as the cards are now different, as is the list of trophies.
On the other hand, some accessibility features have been introduced, such as the ability to listen through headphones with mono audio enabled. Voice commands have also been integrated to be able to give commands to PS5 and thus use applications with phrases. Of course, for now it is only available in English. In turn, we can share screen and stream a game to an open groupif we so wish.
Our game library can now be filtered by different genres, we can pin up to five games or applications to the home screen, the software of the DualSense itself has been updated and the Ukrainian language has been added as compatible. Finally, the PS App now includes a dark mode.
Future arrival of the VRR
One of the most desired implementations is the arrival of the VRR, variable refresh rate. The goal is for HDMI 2.1-compatible TVs and PC monitors to allow synchronization of the screen’s refresh rate with the output of the PS5 itself.
A format that increases the visual performance of games and prevents graphic problems. Now Sony has announced that in the coming months we will see its launch on next-gen console and previously released titles may also receive a patch to align with VRR.
In fact, the option of apply VRR to titles that are not supported, with the risk that not everything works correctly. For now, we will have to keep waiting.
