In 2019 the movie Gambit was canceled by 20th Century Studios, and three years later, Chaining Tatum talks about the ideas they had for this film
One of the projects that was canceled with the end of the X-Men saga at 20th Century Studios was Gambit, a film that would star Chaining Tatum, who was devastated by the film’s cancellation.

In 2015, within the framework of the San Diego Comic-Con, and with Stan Lee as a witness, the filming of projects such as X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool, in addition to the presentation of Fantastic Four, New Mutants and Gambit
In May 2019, after the parade of three directors with the Gambit film (Rupert Wyatt, Doug Liman, and Gore Verbinski), 20th Century Studios officially announced that the film was cancelled.
Three years after the cancellation of Gambit, the actor Chaining Tatum broke the silence and spoke in an interview with the Variety newspaper, where he reported that not playing Gambit anymore left him very sad.
“Once Gambit left, I was very traumatized… I turned off my Marvel machine. I haven’t been able to watch any of the movies. I loved that character. He was too sad. It was like losing a friend because he was so ready to play it.”
The frustrated ideas for Gambit
Tatum, who described Gambit as a cooler guy than Deadpool, had prepared himself so that his portrayal of the mutant would be as close to the script as possible.
“They would call it ‘extravagant’ in their description. I wouldn’t, he was just the coolest person. He could accomplish anything”
Even his outfit would give a lot to talk about, since in addition to being at the latest fashion, Gambit would make his clothing something useful.
“Most of the superheroes, their outfits are utilitarian. Batman has the belt on him. Gambit is like, ‘No, this thing is just a fly, bro! This thing walked the catwalk in Paris last year.’ He is only wearing the things that are cool because he loves fashion.”.
Gambit would have a plot similar to Ocean’s Eleven, which would highlight the eternal rivalry between the Thieves Guild and the Assassins Guild, and Mister Sinister would be the villain of the film.
Even Tatum accused the executives of 20th Century Studios to block his ideas and the intention of producing the tape.
“The studio didn’t really want us to direct it… They wanted anyone but us, essentially, because we had never directed anything.“.
Gambit was originally scheduled for release on February 14, 2020.
