Acer announced during the Consumer Electronics Show 2023, better known as CES 2023, the launch of the eKinekt BD3, a desk combined with an exercise bike that allows you to charge your cell phone or laptop while you pedal.
The Taiwanese company assured that this stationary bike will serve “to promote sustainable and healthier lifestyles”, according to what was outlined in its Blog.
The eKinekt BD3 allows users exercise while they work using the kinetic energy of the cyclist’s pedaling to power the machine and charge their devices.
It has an LCD screen and a companion smartphone app that provide information to help riders keep up with their progress during exercise regimens or work periods.
Users can seamlessly adjust the resistance of the bike, seat, and desk height based on the desired location to provide greater flexibility and comfort when working or training. Besides, the device is equipped with two USB type A ports and one USB type C porta bag hook and a drink holder for added convenience.
reusable energy
As the cyclist pedals, the eKinekt converts kinetic energy into an electrical charge. An hour of constant cycling at 60 RPM on the bike desk can generate 75 watts of self-generated power, and the reusable power is then used to charge laptops and other devices.
The eKinekt BD3 has two modes. In it working modethe desk surface is moved closer to the chair to allow passengers to sit upright while typing and pedaling.
For his part, in the sport modethe top of the desk sits further forward, providing more room to lean in, similar to the position on a standard bike or trainer, for more legroom and increased pedaling power.
As for the companion app, it provides real-time feedback to check riding duration, distance, and speed, while indicating the estimated number of calories burned and watts generated while pedaling.
The eKinekt BD 3 will be available in North America in June and will cost $999.
