Labrador Systems introduced its new retriever, an autonomous mobile robot that helps people in need. Know all the details in the note.
The time of robots has already arrived from the hand of Labrador Systems during the electronic fair CES 2022. The company presented its Retriever, which is an autonomous mobile robot, something like if Siri had life.
The functionalities of the Retriever are many, from responding to scheduled reminders, to delivering a pre-established object. The user can control this robot in 3 ways: from a special touch screen of the Retriever, through the use of the voice or through an app on its Smartphone.
The CEO of Labrador Systems, Mike dooley, He referred to the importance of this robot. In his words, Dooley said: “There is an important part of our society that is hugely neglected. When pain or other health problems start to interfere with the ability to move or other things, even short distances can have a major impact on your independence, quality of life, and overall health. The Retriever is meant to help physically overcome some of those problems. Seeks to empower people to be more active and do more for themselves “.
Labrador Systems piloted these retrievers since February last year at specific sites. We can hope that with their announcement during CES 2022, these robots will be more common to see. The company is supported by SOSV / HAX, Amazon, Alexa Fund, iRobot and the National Science Foundation to promote the use of these robots by those who need them, as assistance to the elderly or those with health problems.
Paul willard, partner of Grep VC said the following: “This is the first time we have seen this kind of robot developed for the home; Until now, this level of functionality has been limited to warehouses and other commercial settings.“. What’s interesting about this is that the robots operate relatively cheaply for the highest possible utilization.
This Labrador System initiative has great support from other companies. Recently, the company announced that it raised more than 3.1 million dollars thanks to its investors such as Amazon, Alexa Fund and Grep VC among others.
