Hormonal changes and motherhood lead women to have a greater predisposition to develop diseases related to the reproductive and sexual system. Thus, cervical cancer becomes a malignant neoplasm that affects a large number of women, increasing mortality rates. Obeying different risk factors, which are mostly preventable. But that, if treated in time, can save lives.
Prevention is the best treatment
The human body can develop different types of cancer. Since, these occur when cells grow uncontrollably. Damaging the blood, bones, tissues, and various organs. Degenerating a specific area and spreading through other spaces of the body. Creating a chain reaction; metastasis; where the life and well-being of the individual is compromised.1
Although, the cure for cancer has not yet been discovered. There are many treatments that successfully include chemotherapy, surgery, and drugs. To stop the growth of carcinomas and alleviate the symptoms. Trying to give the patient the opportunity to lead a good existence, where he can develop his personality and live with quality, despite adversity.
- Being a woman is the main risk factor. Especially when there is a family history. You don’t use a barrier family planning method and you have multiple sexual partners. Increasing the possibility of having recurrent infections, inflammation and viruses.
- Contracting the human papillomavirus as a result of unsafe sex. It is another possible cause of cervical cancer. Especially when sexual activity is started at an early age, reliable contraceptive methods are not used, or there are high-risk partners.2
- Long-term use of oral contraceptives has been harshly questioned. Since, prenatal control pills have chemicals that in the long term degenerate the cells of the body, affecting the reproductive system and increasing the risk of developing certain types of cancer.
- Recurrent infections and a weak immune system are also risk factors. Essentially, because HIV, AIDS and chlamydia lower defenses. Increasing the risk of contracting any type of infection and of presenting severe inflammations that damage the tissues.
- There are other risk factors, such as poor eating habits, not having access to health services, smoking, and consuming alcohol. That mixed with infections and exposure to unsafe sex. They turn this pathology into a public health problem.
There are various diagnostic tests, such as cytology, HPV screening, colposcopy, and manual gynecological examination, among others. That will help the physician to identify the degree of development of the malignancy, in such a way that the treatment is proceeded to counteract the symptoms as soon as possible.
Cervical cancer is one of the main causes of death in women, specifically, because it is not treated in time. Since, prevention and early detection, give the doctor the possibility to carry out a plan of action, to prevent the spread of cancer cells in the body.
