CertiK is a company dedicated to the web security 3. The New York-based company announced a week ago the results of a series B3 round with subscription of around USD 88 million under the direction of Insight Partners, Tiger Global, and Advent International. Besides, the round had the participation of Goldman Sachs, Sequoia and Lightspeed Venture Partnersrenowned venture capital firms for companies.
Following the outcome of this funding round, CertiK’s valuation rose to more than USD 2 billion just three months after the previous round. Four rounds of financing have been carried out to provide capital to Certik in the last nine months and in total they have raised about USD 230 million.
Security for Web 3 is one of the fundamental aspects in the development of this new version of the Internet. In this sense, cybersecurity firms are necessary to ensure that new or existing projects that develop solutions for the blockchain provide secure software to their users. Besides, security is of special importance in this sector because cryptocurrencies can be exchanged for fiat money, that is, they have a monetary value that the holders want to protect.
“Goldman Sachs is excited to be an investor in CertiK, the leading cybersecurity platform for Web 3 and blockchain”, stated Oli Harris, CEO of Goldman Sachs. “As we see further growth in use cases and decentralized assets themselves, CertiK solutions will be of integral importance to the ecosystem helping to accelerate innovation and adoption of these technologies.”.
In short, the participation of firms such as Goldman Sachs or Sequoia shows the growing interest in NFT, the Metaverse and DeFi. All this is possible due to the development of the Bitcoin and Ethereum networks to exchange assets in a decentralized way around the world. The blockchain sector has signs of continuing to grow and in all developments it is necessary to have security controls to prevent fraud, exploits or malicious use. In addition, it is also important for the user to know how to identify these controls, often in the form of public audits, in order to know how trustworthy the platform they are considering is.
