If at this point you have not yet seen the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, you are already late, because it has certainly become one of the best productions we have seen based on a video game. However, if you are one of those who have seen it, you better not have too much hope of getting to see it. a second season, because that’s not going to happen.
This has been dropped by Satoru Honna, its producer, in an interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu. In it, he has confessed that the team does not plan to continue the story in any way, although he says that he would love to continue working with other Japanese studios to produce more anime series in the future.
What he did want to make clear is that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was conceived from the outset as a unique product, hence there is no intention of getting to work on a second season. Moreover, he has even stated that if he could do something more related to anime, he is not sure if it would be a season 2 or something completely different.
Regardless, that doesn’t mean this is the end of the universe of cyberpunk. We must not forget that CD Projekt RED has in its hands the Phantom Libery expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, the only one that will host the action RPG, but it is also expected that sooner or later the game will receive a direct sequel about which the only thing we know at respect is that it responds to the code name of Project Orion.
