The possibility of humanity being extinguished has been mentioned in theories, hypotheses, Hollywood movies, among others, including the documentary “Control Z”, which presents a destructive phenomenon that would end civilization in just 72 hours: the Eventon Carrington.
This research, cited in a report published on the website of Mega Newssuggests that this solar storm could occur again after appearing in 1859, being recognized as the most powerful in modern history.
This unique solar storm, so named because it was discovered by astronomer Richard Carrington, caused the destruction of telegraph networks around the planet.
The Carrington affected the Earth between September 1 and 2 of that year and many witnessed how in the sky a white light, the earthly sign that something was happening off-planet. But what impressed me most were the northern lights observed in different countries.
Since August 28, 1859, in the north of Colombia, in the United States and Canada, in Madrid, Rome and in the Chilean cities of Santiago and Concepción, the auroras were observed.
The records report that the particles that arrived from the Sun caused the aurora borealis to be appreciated at the planet’s equator, phenomena that normally occur only in southern or northern regions.
What would happen today if the Carrington Event occurs?
Currently, solar phenomena endanger satellites and communication systems such as radar, but the most damaging radiation is absorbed in the sky long before it touches human skin. The worst thing that could happen it would be a global stoppage in internet services.
For Dr. Sangeetha Abdu Jyothi, from the University of California, Irvine, such an event would not only affect Internet connections globally, but also would take us back to the Middle Ages: “Not even the Middle Ages, I would say even before.”
Currently, the distribution of drinking water, the health, food, pharmaceutical industries, payment systems, banking, all depend on electricity and the Internet network: “If we don’t have that, we’ll basically go back to the Stone Age.”, says Abdu Jyothi
