Increasingly, cardiovascular diseases have been increasing among the Mexican population and worldwide and, according to figures provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), are the leading cause of death in the world. It is estimated, for example, that more than 17 million people die each year in the world from cardiovascular disease, from some disorder of the heart and blood vessels such as cardiomyopathies, cerebrovascular disease, myocardial infarction or hypertension, among others.
To prevent this type of cardiovascular disease, you can pay attention to certain daily activities and avoid bad habits at work, as this can reduce the probability of developing a cardiovascular problem. But, what are those bad habits that affect your heart and that you should avoid? Below we show them to you.
Sedentary lifestyle causes cardiovascular problems
Without a doubt, sedentary people have a lower probability of life compared to those who burn between 500 and 3,000 calories per week, since their heart has to work harder and this increases blood pressure.
Physical inactivity also causes cardiovascular diseases
Performing moderate physical activity helps lower blood pressure, control cholesterol levels and prevent the development of overweight or obesity, as well as strengthen the heart muscle and make the arteries more flexible. However, physical inactivity has a totally opposite result and favors the appearance of cardiovascular diseases.
Overwork also causes cardiovascular diseases
Frequently, overwork causes stress, which increases heart rate and blood pressure, thus favoring the appearance of this type of disease.
Bad nutrition
Eating junk food or foods high in saturated fat, flour, salt and sugar increase the cholesterol bad in the blood If you add to that a sedentary lifestyle and a lack of physical activity. These bad habits at work increase the risk of cardiovascular problems in the future.
Lack of sleep also causes cardiovascular diseases
Last but not least, there is sleep (or the lack of it) and that is that sleeping poorly or not resting for a minimum of 7 hours a day, causes your body to suffer from hormonal disorders and these affect the circulatory system.
Of course, you should also know that excessive sleep is not good either. Sleeping more than 8 hours a day or more may be associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis, especially among women.
