If it were up to them, dogs would eat exactly the same as us, and they would even do it sitting in the chair. But that would make them various health problemssince they cannot eat sugars, or salts, or spices, or many of the foods that we eat, and much less in the amounts in which we eat them.
The strawberries arrive in February and run out in June. They are a fruit that is liked by adults and children alike, due to its flavour, its ease when it comes to being consumed and its versatility, since it is used for desserts, sauces, creams, juices, etc.
It is normal for our dog to make eyes at us when he sees us eating strawberries, and that is when we ask ourselves, can I give my dog strawberries? And the answer is yes, but we cannot abuse the quantities. There are also other factors to take into account, since we cannot give the strawberry just like that, but it must be done well.
Between 2 and 6 strawberries a day depending on the size of the dog
Dogs can eat a lot of fruit, but always washed, peeled, at room temperature, without seeds, without sugar and in small pieces. The same thing happens with strawberries, they have to be very well washed, without the green leaves and cut into pieces that our dog can handle without risk of choking.
Strawberry seeds are not harmful, unlike watermelon or apple seeds, as well as peach pits, among other examples. This is why we should not worry, we only have to worry that the strawberry is ripe (at the exact point), clean, at room temperature and cut into pieces.
We cannot give you strawberries that are in the process of rotting. nor that they have mushrooms, in the same way that we do not eat them, they should not either. Neither should any animal eat food that is putrefying, nor should it feed on the leftovers of our food. Our dog’s health is just as sensitive as ours, so we have to be careful with what we give it at all times.
We can mix strawberries with other fruits if our dog likes them, what we have to be clear about is that, depending on the size of the animal, we can give him between 2 strawberries and 6 strawberries. It also depends on the size, because there are very small ones and there are big ones. If our dog is less than 10 kilos in weight, 2 or 3 strawberries is enough. Here we could ask our veterinarian, surely he will be able to tell us how to offer the fruit, from what age, at what time, the exact amount, etc.
