Overwatch 2 has not been without its controversies since its recent release, however, if one has taken the cake in particular, it has been the requirement to validate accounts using a mobile phone, with the added limitation of not supporting prepaid phones. Luckily, Blizzard has reversed (partially) this measure.
Even with all the problems caused, it seems that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will have this annoying requirement, following the original plan of Activision Blizzard. This information can be read on the support page of battle.netwhere it is specified that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II requires a mobile phone to play.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will have one of the most criticized requirements of Overwatch 2 to be able to play
Revealed the money that Microsoft earns with Xbox Game Pass
On Battle.net you can read the following: Phone number required to access certain games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, newly created Overwatch 2 accounts, and newly created Call of Duty: Modern Warfare accounts require a phone number.
It is quite clear that, at least for now, Activision Blizzard plans to go ahead with this requirement for the next installment in the Call of Duty series.. It is strange to say the least that all the controversy that this feature has caused in Overwatch 2 has not made them rethink it, so it may only be a matter of time before this requirement is removed, or modified. Still, we won’t know until we get our hands on it.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will go on sale on October 28 of this year for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Ps4, Ps5 and Microsoft Windows.
