The BYD Han has officially debuted in Europe. BYD’s long-awaited 100% electric saloon has made an appearance at the 2022 Paris Motor Show. A model that will have to face, among others, the Mercedes EQE. It stands out for its design, its technology and its autonomy.
BYD has officially presented to the European public an electric car with which it will face the Mercedes EQE. Taking advantage of the celebration of Paris Motor Show 2022 has debuted in society new BYD Hana 100% electric sedan loaded with technology, with very interesting features and, above all, a distinctive design that exudes personality.
The Chinese brand has formed a range of three models, all electric, with which to expand through the competitive European passenger car market. The new Han joins the also presented BYD Atto 3 and Tang. It will not be easy at all, but there are plenty of arguments for commercial success.
The exterior design of the new BYD Han
In its particular assault on European dealers, the new Han seeks to distance itself from its rivals not only in price or technological equipment. Taking into account the category in which the design will be framed will be a determining factor. It is because of that looks elegant as well as modern and stylish. It even exudes a certain sporty air.
The front stands out for its very thin, sharp and slightly enveloping headlights that connect to the grille. A chrome grille that includes the name of the brand and that, together with the headlights, offers continuity. Also noteworthy is the bumper and its air intakes. The optical groups use led technology and include lights for daytime driving.
In the side view, the flowing line of the Han and its elaborate aerodynamics are evident. Here we must underline the design of the 19-inch alloy wheels that are equipped as standard. And finishing our tour of the exterior at the rear, we will find some pilots, also LED and very thin. They have a horizontal layout and are connected through a strip of light, which enhances the feeling of width.
The customization options they are not overly important. BYD offers a choice of six body colors: Space Black, Snow White, Time Grey, Al Blue, Emperor Red and Mountain Green.

Leaving aside the outside, if we go into the interior of the new Han we will quickly be enveloped by an atmosphere of a premium car. It is a vehicle in which care has been taken to the smallest detail. It also has advanced technology. Yes, it is a digital and connected car. Just sit in the passenger compartment or take a look at the cockpit.
A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is combined with the “nerve center” of the interior, a 15.6-inch touch screen. A key component to manage the infotainment system that allows access to numerous digital services. And by the way, for the occupants of the rear seats there is a 7-inch LCD control panel with which to manage different functions.
The interior, thanks to the enormous wheelbase, offers enough space for up to five passengers to travel with a high level of comfort. The trunk cubic a cargo volume of 410 liters.
We cannot ignore the list of driving assistance systems. The new Han has a multitude of technologies. These include intelligent cruise control, automatic emergency braking, involuntary lane departure warning, lane keeping assistant and rear cross traffic warning.
The autonomy of the new BYD Han
At the heart of the new Han is an all-electric powertrain. The “heart” of this vehicle is a LFP battery with Blade technology whose capacity reaches 85.4 kWh. The main purpose of the battery is none other than to power two motors, one per axle. By equipping an engine on each axle, the new BYD model boasts an all-wheel drive configuration.
The total power reaches 380 kW (517 hp) and 700 Nm of maximum torque. Thanks to these two motors, the Han can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km/h. It is important to underline that this electric has a weight of 2,250 kilograms. The autonomy stands at 521 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. It declares an average consumption of 18.5 kWh at 100 km.
The technical sheet of the new BYD Han
In regards to the loading times, will vary depending on the electrical outlet used. Using a 120 kW direct current fast charging point we will be able to charge the battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes. Incidentally, it is also equipped with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, so the energy stored in the battery can be used to charge external devices.
Release date and prices of the new BYD Han
When will it hit the market? BYD has confirmed at the 2022 Paris Motor Show that the marketing of the new Han will start imminently in selected European markets. It will initially go on sale in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. Before the end of the year it will be launched in France and the UK.
The first units of the new Han are already on European territory. Last September the first copies were registered in the Netherlands. For now it is unknown when BYD will arrive in Spain. In the German market, the new Han will have a starting price of €72,000.
