With only one episode left of the critically and popularly acclaimed series, successionthere is a lot of speculation about who will be in charge of the company founded by Logan Roy. We saw the character die in the third episode of this final season, which triggered the war for the “succession” between the Roy brothers; so the death was a crucial moment for the development of the plot. However, not because it was inevitable was it easy to digest for Brian Cox, who plays Logan Roy and who thinks his death came too early for the story.
Brian Cox thinks Logan Roy died too early in succession
The death of Logan Roy left us all shocked, despite being something that sooner or later had to happen. And, despite the fact that throughout the series we saw many references to the deteriorating state of health of LoganWe didn’t think death would happen at the start of season four.
In an interview with Amol Rajan of the BBC (via), Brian Cox has admitted that Logan Roy’s death was handled “quite brilliantly”, but also considers it to have happened “too soon”.. For him, it would have made more sense to do it later in the season, either in the fifth or sixth episode..
“I was okay with it in the end, but I did feel a bit rejected. Know? It felt a bit like ‘Oh, all the work I’ve done and in the end I’m going to, you know, end up like an ear on the plane carpet,’ the actor shared.
In his statement, Cox is referencing the scene of Logan’s death. The event itself occurred off camera, to find out, along with the Roy children by phone. Another of the characters who was on the plane where it all happened, Tom (Matthew Macfadyen), offers to hold his cell phone to Logan’s ear so his children can say goodbye.
Could Logan come back?
More jokingly, Cox shared a theory about how Logan could still be alive on the show.. TOAlthough he later clarified that it is only something that could well have been an assumption on the part of the audience:
“[Su muerte] it could be part of an elaborate trap. I mean, if you think about it, from Logan’s point of view, he has to figure out how his children will behave when he dies. What will happen then? And the only way to do that is to fake the death of him and in reality, from a far distance he is watching the ensuing chaos.”
