breath of the wild it marked a new chapter not only for The Legend of Zelda, but for Nintendo in general. It was released on Wii U and Nintendo Switch, bridging generational gaps, and analysts believe its sequel could do the same.
Richard Leadbetter, John Linneman and Alex Battaglia, from Digital Foundry Weekly, have analyzed the trailer for Breath of the Wild 2analyzing its antialiasing, draw distance, rendering and much more, which has led to doubts that it is actually running natively on switch.
Battaglia has pointed out that the trailer’s camera cuts have nearly perfect antialiasing, something even the original didn’t have, leading him to the conclusion that it’s not running on the Nintendo Switch we know of. It could be a new console or, more likely, the much rumored “SwitchPro“.
If it’s a new console being used for the trailer, Nintendo hasn’t announced it yet, but it could be that the next game from Zelda be a cross-gen title that ushers in the history of the switch, just like the original did. This is something that Battaglia especially speculated on.
Either way, Nintendo it is pretty quiet about announcements and projects until they are ready. There is even speculation that Nintendo has been quietly reprinting 3DS games for the past two years amid the shutdown of the digital store.
Nintendo has also bought land to expand with the aim of creating new development space at its Japanese headquarters. So it’s unclear if a new console is somewhere between all these plans, but the OLED Switch came almost out of nowhere, so it wouldn’t be new to Nintendo.
