And it happened in Mexico!
The Volaris airline announced that on February 7 it activated the ECPAT code on one of its flights from the city of Morelia to Mexicali, Baja California and thereby avoided a possible case of human trafficking in a minor who was contacted by strangers via social networks.
In a statement, the specified that at the General Francisco J. Mujica International Airport, in the state of Michoacán, the parents of a 14-year-old girl and the station manager of the Company notified the destination airport of said situation.
The crew approached the little girl to verify that she was well and to act in accordance with the established security protocol and the authorities detained those involved who accompanied the minor, who remained in the custody of the National System for the Integral Development of the Family, waiting to find his parents.
? It gives us peace of mind knowing that the girl is doing well and we are proud of our ambassadors for correctly operating the protocol and participating in the prevention of a crime like this? said the director of Security and Welfare at Volaris, Mauricio Morán. And he also commented that “since 2013, the airline has trained more than four thousand ambassadors in the protection of children’s rights, in order to provide support tools to the tourism industry to prevent child sexual exploitation”
