Hermits, singles, lonely, there are people who prefer to spend the holidays in their own company or simply cannot be with their loved ones. However, Bourbon brand Jim Beam thinks everyone should get at least one hug at Christmas. Therefore, he throws pajamas that simulate hugs.
It is a set of red flannel unisex pajamas, which they called Kentucky Hug. This one looks like simple and comfortable holiday-inspired plaid pajamas, with a slight twist. It has a removable mechanism that fits around the neck and shoulders. So when this one kicks in, it applies pressure to those areas in a way that’s meant to mimic a real hug.
The brand mentions that the idea allows you to send a hug to your family and friends in the Christmas season, of course if you can’t be with them.
Why does an alcohol brand launch this peculiar product?
Sarah Cordova, Jim Beam’s senior manager of North American marketing, explains that the company wants to “foster that spirit of connection despite the barriers we might face this time of year. Whether it’s your best friend from college or a relative far away, we hope you share the gift of a Kentucky hug“.
He added: “Getting together, celebrating family traditions and spending quality time with loved ones, especially during the holidays, is at the core of the Jim Beam brand.”
Why are they called “Kentucky hug” pajamas?
The brand explains that “a ‘Kentucky Hug’ It’s a household term among bourbon lovers and Jim Beam fans alike, and this holiday season, the brand is turning the phrase into reality with a limited-edition holiday pajama set outfitted with a ‘built-in cuddle sim.’ ”. This so that you can send a warm hug and show of affection to anyone with whom you cannot share these dates.
Of course, a real hug is better than a “fake” one, but the pajamas that simulate hugs range from S to XXL, are limited edition and cost $25 (almost 500 Mexican pesos). Unfortunately, they are already sold out and the people who will spend the December season alone… will no longer be able to have their hug, even if it is simulated.
Here the question that remains is why did it take so long to get a product like this? It would have been very helpful during the worst of the pandemic!
