maybe Nintendo may have moved on to the next installment in the franchise, but fans still haven’t given up on Breath of the Wild. Someone named Waikuteru on YouTube just posted a video showing off a new multiplayer mod for the game that allows two people to play split-screen together.
The mod itself is the work of a person who goes by the name of Kirbymimi. “In today’s video we will take a look at the new split screen multiplayer mod for Zelda: Breath of the Wild by KirbiminiWaikuteru said.
“The split screen version will be released on July 29, 2022. It is currently in beta, so expect future issues to be fixed“.
According to Kirbymimi’s official description, “it has been a dream for years to enter the vast world of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and explore it with a friend. Imagine being able to sneak into a Bokoblin camp, one player jumping in to distract them while the other sets up a trap from behind. Imagine being able to shield race down icy cliffs for the best time. Imagine working together with your best friend to get what it takes to take down Ganon. This mod makes all that and more a reality“.
However, the mod does come with a few caveats. “The mod allows up to four players to play simultaneously throughout the entire game, but there are some limitations that are currently being worked on that are important to know about before you start.Kirbymimi explained.
“The biggest limitation currently is that a split screen mode has not yet been implemented and all players must share the screen with the first player. This makes it sometimes more difficult to see or control other players. Because of this, a button has been added that teleports other players to the first player so everyone can stay together. Works pretty well, but will probably be better once split screens are implemented“.
Although the mod will be released later this week, the beta has been around long enough to get some attention. Players have left all kinds of positive feedback on the official forum and on the Discord channel set up by Kirbymimi.
