The Usya photovoltaic solar plant that Acciona has in Chile, specifically in the Atacama desert, is made up of 18,200 solar modules that must be monitored and controlled to ensure optimum performance over time.
Until now, the Spanish company used drones to accomplish this task, but recently decided to use a new method that allows the installation and its components to be analyzed from below and with greater precision.

But beyond that, the truth is that the robot dog of Boston Dynamics -which does not require a licensed operator as it happens with drones- was conceived for its practical application and, in this case, Acciona uses it to generate thermographic reports of the installation, determining with them the status of each one of the components.
Increasingly present in the industry
Spot is capable of moving autonomously from a previously automated route, as well as overcoming all kinds of terrain irregularities or even climbing stairs. The American company put it up for sale in June 2020 at a price of $74,500about 65,000 euros to change.
There are already several companies in the industrial sector that have turned to Spot to carry out certain jobs, a robot that has an autonomy of 90 minutes and has charging bases to go to when it needs to be recharged. Its speed is 1.6 m/s and it is estimated that it travels about 5 kilometers on a single charge.
