The consoles laptops are all the rage since the release of the Nintendo Switch in 2017. Many traditional gaming experiences have been brought to the mobile experience, such as first-person shooters, JRPGs, and open-world adventure games.
The momentum continued with the recent release of Valve’s Steam Deck in 2022, and now, it looks like Logitech Y Tencent have come together to create a new offer for portable consoles.
In addition to the native games in devices laptops like Steam Deck and Switch, publishers have introduced cloud gaming. If deemed unfeasible on Switch, publishers can introduce cloud versions of major games like Dying Light 2: Stay Human and Hitman 3, so Nintendo fans can try games that couldn’t be ported natively.
Xbox has also developed its own cloud gaming service, ‘Xbox Cloud Gaming’, so mobile users can play great first-party titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite from a smartphone. Xbox Cloud Gaming is also accessible on PC alongside Nvidia’s popular GeForce Now streaming service.
Now, Logitech Y Tencent have announced a partnership to develop a new portable console of games in the cloud that is scheduled to launch later this year. The new console will combine Logitech G’s expertise in hardware with that of Tencent Games in software services.
In addition, Logitech is working with the Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now teams so that the new console has official support for cloud gaming from these two companies. Other cloud gaming services are also expected to support the new gaming platform. Logitech Y Tencent.
Unfortunately, it seems that the new console of Logitech Y Tencent does not support native play by traditional means. Some gamers may still prefer the Nintendo Switch, which allows them to play natively and use cloud play for some games.
Steam Deck offers similar benefits through a large catalog of Steam Deck compatible games and Xbox Cloud Gaming through Microsoft Edge.
