Adobe buys Figma. Both companies have just confirmed this in separate press releases.
After days of rumours, the giant in the sector will finally acquire the company behind the design software with collaborative tools in the cloud, which will continue to operate independently.
The novelty is the most relevant of the year in the world of global graphic design, since Figma threatened to be a major rival for Adobe, hand in hand with a strategy based on online collaboration between users.
The deal is going to close for US$20 billion, according to reports.
The transaction will be carried out partially in cash, and the rest through the transfer of Adobe shares.
“The merger of Adobe and Figma will usher in a new era of collaborative creativity,” the companies said.
The official statement from Adobe.
Figma will continue to be operated independently by Dylan Field, the company’s founder and CEO, but the executive will report to Adobe’s David Wadhwani.
Adobe will have to wait, as usual in these cases, until 2023, once it has all the corresponding regulatory approvals.
