BMW It has made important changes in terms of exterior design, the technological equipment has been improved and expanded and, what is equally relevant, there are also novelties at the mechanical level. Let’s go into detail and review all the keys to the new X7.
The design of the new BMW X7 2022
Just take a quick look at the images that accompany this article to discover how the exterior of the X7 has changed. The modifications made by the BMW design team have allowed this huge SUV to be adapted to the new design philosophy that the company is following. It should also be borne in mind that we are facing a “facelift” and that, therefore, the changes are concentrated in the front and rear.
At the front we find ourselves before some divided headlamps. Twin headlights with adaptive LED technology as standard. The LED light strips located at the top of the front cover include the daytime running lights, position lights and direction indicators. The dipped and main beam headlights are located lower down. By the way, the fog lights are built into the headlights themselves. The grille is new and introduces a new design element with discreet cascading lighting.
The side view brings out the adventurous and country essence of the X7. Wrapping up our tour of the exterior at the rear are new LED taillights with 3D sculpture. 20-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard. Optionally there are other designs and superior sizes. For the first time, from the factory, the X7 can be fitted with 23-inch wheels. And speaking of customization, new exterior colors are available: Sparkling Copper Gray metallic and M Marina Bay Blue metallic.
The interior and technology of the new BMW X7 2022
Leaving aside the outside, if we go into the interior of the new X7 we will quickly be enveloped by a warm, luxurious and above all, highly technological environment. The driving position is digital and connected. The BMW ID8 system has been integrated into the new X7. The new generation of BMW iDrive with BMW Curved Display enables access to all kinds of digital online services.
This setup combines a 12.3-inch screen whose function is that of a digital instrument panel with a 14.9-inch screen to operate the infotainment system. Both screens are combined with a generously sized Head-Up Display.
Up to seven passengers can travel inside. A six-seat configuration with two individual seats in the second row is optionally available. At the front, heated comfort seats are standard. And by the way, the instrument cluster has been redesigned. The electrically operated split tailgate provides easy access to load space of up to 2,120 litres.
The list of driving assistance systems has been enlarged. Forward Collision Warning, fitted as standard, now also detects oncoming traffic when turning left (in countries where vehicles drive on the right), as well as pedestrians or cyclists when turning right . Also available for the first time are route control, active navigation, traffic light recognition and towing and maneuvering assistant.
The engines of the new BMW X7 2022
Regarding the mechanical section, there are also novelties. The offer continues to be made up of a selection of three engines, two gasoline and one diesel. The access step is fixed by the new X7 xDrive40d that develops a power of 340 CV. One level above is the X7 xDrive40i whose power goes from the current 333 CV to 380 CV. And as a more efficient alternative, we have the X7 M60i xDrive with 5530 hp.

All the engines of the new X7 are associated with a eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox and a xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system. In addition, it is important to emphasize that now electrification makes an appearance in each of the engines. BMW uses 48-volt light-hybrid (MHEV) technology. Therefore, they wear the ECO environmental label of the DGT (General Directorate of Traffic) with the mobility advantages that this entails.
Release date and prices of the new BMW X7 2022
When will it hit the market? The commercial launch of the new X7 is set for next August. Upon arrival at Spanish dealerships, it will be available along with the selection of engines previously described. Despite the months of waiting that are still ahead, it can already be configured. The prices of the new X7, according to the configurator, start at €109,600 for the most decaffeinated version.
The X7 will continue to wear the seal “Made in USA”. The series production process will take place at the facilities that the BMW Group has in Spartanburg, South Carolina (United States).
