Just a few days ago BMW announced the sales results for the past year 2021, managing to outdo itself in all areas and brands. An event that the Munich brand has taken advantage of to announce the launch of two completely new models in 2022, and the long-awaited M4 CSL.
The 50th anniversary of BMW M is about to kick off. In just over a month and a half, the sports brand will start with the launch of special editions and completely new models that it will make available to its customers with limited numbers of units, and truly unique configurations. Presentations that will last until March 2023, and that will coincide with new generations of models from the passenger division.
From the outset, BMW has already confirmed the world debut of two key models: the third generation of the X1 and a new flagship, the Series 7. The two best sellers in their respective market segments, that of compact SUVs and representative saloons that will come with their respective electric versions. In the case of the sports division, whose sales results have also been far exceeded, there will also be news. The manufacturer has confirmed a special edition of the new M4, so the focus is on the most brutal version: the M4 CSL.

There is no other in the 4 Series Coupé portfolio more than this one, and which we have seen in tests on numerous occasions, and whose production is scheduled for early next summer, while future owners will be able to start enjoying the units from the end of the year. With these deadlines in mind, the presentation of this more radical version should not take long, so the debut will take place in spring.
The German firm wants to maintain the throne in the category of great sports cars, recovering historical acronyms for its models. And these three from «CSL» have been assigned to the D-segment sports car that will come with important news: a reduction in weight eliminating those elements that are not necessary – for example, the rear seats – for extreme driving, a set-up of the chassis with the invaluable cooperation of Motorsport and an extra power that will push the 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine to the limit without electric assistance with approx. 544 hp. All to the rear wheels.
This will be one of the flags of BMW M, because the badge will be a more radical M8, although there will also be very marked launches. the unpublished M3 Touring that will only be destined for Europe or the icing on the SUV range, with the exclusive XM, a plug-in hybrid developed solely by the sports brand and that promises unique power in its category, leaving Porsche and Mercedes far behind.
