While many of the fans who enjoyed Bloodborne wish it would become a franchise and Sony would publish a new installment or, at least, a remastering of the PS4 game, it seems that, for now, they will not be able to count on one of its original producers. Teruyuki Toriyama is now working on the production of games for virtual reality outside of Sony.
Toriyama was one of the developers who took to the streets after the closure of the Japan Studio on PlayStation, after having worked on games like Bloodbornem or the most recent Demon’s Sousls, among many other games in which the team participated. As he comments in an interview with Famitsu, he is now facing the production of a virtual reality game of sword fight next to Thirdeverse.
Thirdverse is planning to release this game for early 2022, as well as a second project for virtual reality by a western team owned by the studio, only this other would try to “Floating islands, temples and humanoid robots”. It would also arrive in 2022.
As for Bloodborne, the future of the brand is unknown after the closure of Japan Studio. we will have to wait to know the plans of the company. For now, Sony will hold a PlayStation Showcase on September 9 where it will show news for the next few months.
