this is how it looks Blonde, the film in which Ana de Armas plays Marilyn Monroe. Directed by Andrew Dominik, the film is based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates and is a fictionalized version of the iconic actress’s story.
The film also stars Adrien Brody, Bobby Canavale, and Julianne Nicholson. A few months ago a controversy arose over the possible classification NC17 (for adults). The film’s director, Andrew Dominik, spoke about it in a recent interview with ScreenDaily. And without biting his tongue, he described the alleged intention of the MPA as “a load of shit.” After all, such a classification tends to become a hindrance for such films that, having a limited audience, are not of much interest to cinema chains. And even more so in pandemic times, it should be noted.
On the other hand, Dominik acknowledges that Blonde it is a drama that meets all the criteria so that (in the eyes of the MPA) only adult audiences are allowed to see it. But being a biopic around the turbulent life of Marilyn Monroe, the New Zealand director could not conceive it in another way. You can read more about it here.
