It is a fact that, since the appearance of the internet until today, we have seen a great difference in the interaction of the population. In the pharma field it has not been the exception, since the search for signs and symptoms that the patient performs is always with the help of the web.
Today it is no longer just about knowing “what do I have?” but to confirm their diagnoses even after going to the doctor and, in addition, they do it to learn about health and share their experiences. That is why we must be very clear that the contribution of health professionals is extremely important, as this constitutes a source of support and information in which the medical population trusts.
Why is there confidence in the use of blogs?
The first thing is that the blog constitutes a high educational level, since the variety of information sources used makes them part of those who truly see health. And the most important (from my point of view) is that it allows the PHC-PATIENT interaction to be better and, therefore, positively influences the improvement of health services, since it is an approach that can feel more personal.
Thanks to a study carried out by Toni González and Pablo Medina, both doctors in communication in Switzerland, we were able to obtain data where they mention that the application of new information and communication technologies in the health sector has given rise to the concept of medicine 2.0, which is made up of five elements:
- Social network.
- Participation.
- Collaboration.
- Information recommendation.
- Opening.
With this, the health system revolves around the patient and that is the most important thing. There are different types of health blogs, which are of interest to be defined according to authorship:
Health blogs continue to grow worldwide, as the opportunity for the patient to have access to more information is unique.
We definitely still have a lot to learn about good practices and the creation of a good blog, but something that should be noted is that there must be content with bases:
- Reliable sources.
- Professionals willing to provide support and information.
- Experience and expertise in the subjects that interest patients.
Through a blog, you could position yourself as an expert based on what you want to convey to your patients, so you must bear in mind that your knowledge can be your best tool to delve into one of the trends most demanded by the patient.
