The company is in full restructuring after the purchase of Microsoft.
Despite the fact that 2021 was not the best year for the Actvision Blizzard image due to the multiple cases of harassment, abuse, exploitation and even suicide that came to light, the truth is that 2022 has started very strongly for the companyas Microsoft’s acquisition of it and its promise to clean it up has given it new life.
That is why, despite the fact that titles like Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV have fallen in their releases to next year, while the future of Call of Duty is in doubt, the truth is that the company seems to be focused on new IPswhich would become the property of Microsoft.
And if recently we were able to learn about a new title within the survival genre with a triple A budget and that would be completely based on a new fantasy universe, we have now discovered that there could be another new game to be announced.
The game announced last week could be the tip of the iceberg
According to a comment on the Xbox Two by Jez Corden of Windows Central, who has already discussed unannounced Blizzard projects, the game announced last week is not the one he knowsso it explains that there is another different game in development that has not been shown yet. He also comments that he doesn’t talk about this title so as not to get anyone in trouble.
Of course, already speaking outside the plane of the games, Corden affirms that, according to his contacts within the company, the atmosphere in Blizzard is much betternoting that these same sources speak of a sense of optimism that they had not had in years.
Be that as it may, it will be necessary to see how Activision Blizzard performs in the years to come, since there is a lot of work to do to be able to get rid of the bad reputation that they have been acquiring in recent monthsbeing already confirmed that Bobby Kottick will leave the company at the time the purchase of Microsoft is made official.
Likewise, it must be added that the destination of all these IPs now passes through the hands of Microsoft, who have respected previous agreements such as Deathloop. However, other titles such as Starfield and Redfall will remain exclusive to the American company, as it is the owner of the brands and studios.
