Blizzard Entertainment bought Proletariat, its first studio in 15 years. In this way we say goodbye to Proletariat’s Spellbreak, the magical battle royale.
The time has come to say goodbye to Proletariat’s Spellbreak, the battle royale who turned bullets into magic will close sometime in 2023. This is due to the recent acquisition of Proletariat studio in Boston, who will now join Blizzard Entertainment.
It took more than 15 years for Blizzard Entertainment could buy a video game studio again. Let’s remember that this acquisition comes at a time when Blizzard hopes to join Microsoft, something that would happen next year. This purchase, as we said, will not be to strengthen Proletariat’s Spellbreakbut Blizzard plans to take some of the staff to a different game.
The video game that benefited from this purchase would be world of warcraft. The successful MMORPG would add to its ranks more than 100 previous Proletariat workers. The goal is simple: increase the staff as much as possible so that they can meet the pending expansions, which includes dragon flight which will come this year.
About spell break, on its website we could see a farewell statement from the developers. “After more than four years of elemental magic and spell combinations, we have made the decision to end development on Spellbreak. The servers will be shut down in early 2023. Thank you to the millions of players who have joined us in Hollow Lands since 2018; It’s been an amazing ride”.
Spellbreak is a game released in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. In this game users will choose between six different classes, where each one will give you a different ability. The interesting thing about this game is the use of magicgiving the player the possibility to fly, teleport, turn invisible and cast different spells. Unfortunately we will only be able to enjoy this game a little more until server shutdown in 2023.
