The last two months have been exciting for fans of the Warcraft franchise with the announcement of the Dragonflight expansion and Wrath of the Lich King Classic. And now, Blizzard has just announced a new mobile game set in the Warcraft universe called Warcraft Arclight Rumble.
Warcraft Arclight Rumble is a tower defense action strategy game with strong ties to the RTS roots of Warcraft. Blizzard promises fast-paced real-time strategy battles and an “easy to learn, hard to master” Warcraft gaming experience with Arclight Rumble.
According to Blizzard, Warcraft Arclight Rumble will host a massive single player campaign with over 70 maps set in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, filled with recognizable villains and monsters from World of Warcraft Classic. Players will be able to collect over 60 different miniaturized versions of iconic Warcraft heroes, villains, units and monsters to build their armies, and use classic spells to turn the tide of battle.
Although players will not build bases like in previous Warcraft strategy games, they will be able to capture towers, encounter stones, and gold mines on the map to bolster their forces and protect their base from enemy attacks.
Warcraft Arclight Rumble it will also have competitive and cooperative content. It features a head-to-head duel mode where players can pit their armies against each other, as well as guild and raid systems that allow players to fight alongside each other.
Many Warcraft fans are cautiously optimistic about Warcraft Arclight Rumble. Despite the lucrative market, mobile games carry a stigma among many gamers. However, the Warcraft Arclight Rumble development team is made up of many Warcraft and Blizzard veterans. Many fans expect these developers to ensure that Warcraft Arclight Rumble delivers the “true Warcraft experience” that it promises.
Warcraft Arclight Rumble doesn’t have an official release schedule at the moment, but Blizzard is already offering pre-registration for early access on its official site. The game appears to be well along in development, and is already in closed alpha, so the Warcraft Arclight Rumble beta is likely not too far off.
